Hyundai SUV Miami

Today’s parents need all the help they can get. Although an SUV liftgate can’t babysit, it can make life’s obstacles a bit simpler to navigate – at least when you have heavy Whole Foods bags hanging from your wrists. If that sounds appealing, allow us to introduce you to our favorite SUVs with smart hands-free tailgates.

2021 Hyundai Tucson

Featuring Hyundai’s convenient hands-free smart liftgate, the new Tucson is one of the most versatile SUVs in its class. The smart SUV liftgate comes with an auto-open function, which activates when the user is within 40 inches of the rear bumper. That’s right: There’s no need to wag your foot under a bumper. Just stand still for 3 seconds and – voila!

What makes this SUV power tailgate extra-unique is its adjustable height setting. Users can set the height of the cargo floor to accommodate most anyone or any item.

In addition to the hands-free SUV liftgate, the Tucson also comes with a second-row USB outlet, wireless (Qi) device charging pad, panoramic sunroof, and Hyundai SmartSense – the latter of which allowed last year’s Tucson to earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick and NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating.

2021 Genesis GV80

In the luxury SUV arena, there’s no model more hotly anticipated than the Genesis GV80. It features a smart hands-free power liftgate made of lightweight aluminum, plus a huge 14.5-inch touchscreen with infotainment and an available 21-speaker premium Lexicon sound system that should be a treat for your eardrums.

2021 Hyundai Palisade

The Hyundai hands-free smart liftgate comes optional on the new Palisade SEL, and standard on Limited and all-new Calligraphy models. It’s the same SUV tailgate feature that’s available in the Tucson and Santa Fe, but Palisade’s liftgate includes a “Quick Open” setting that provides you with virtually instant access to the enormous 86.4-cubic-foot cargo area (up to 45.8 cu. ft. behind the second row).

The new 2021 Hyundai Palisade isn’t all-liftgate, either. In fact, it has some of the best SUV features in its class. Let’s take a look at some of our favorites:
  • Dual 2.1-amp USB ports in the third row
  • Rear Seat Quiet Mode (standard on all trims)
  • Driver Talk in-car intercom
  • Wireless Android Auto™ & Apple CarPlay®
  • Head-up display
  • 630W 12-speaker Harman Kardon® audio
  • 10.25-in color touchscreen with onboard Navigation
  • Underfloor storage compartment
  • Dual panel sunroof
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
And when you need to tow [insert fun toy here], choose the new Palisade, which can haul up to 5,000 pounds with ease.

2021 Kia Telluride

Kia, Hyundai’s cousin, has produced some quality vehicles over the years, including the popular Telluride. It’s equipped with a Smart Power Liftgate™ and an adjustable cargo floor, just like Hyundai’s. The hidden storage compartment (Dual Level Cargo Floor) under Telluride’s cargo area is a nice add, though the Palisade also offers a similar feature.

But because the 2021 Telluride is largely a carry-over model, you’d be wallet-wise to find a pre-owned 2020 model instead of buying new.

2020-21 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Santa Fe
Ah! The role model of Hyundai SUVs. With the new Santa Fe, you not only get Hyundai’s hands-free smart liftgate (standard on SEL 2.0T and up), but you also have access to incredible family-first features.

Safe Exit Assist (SEA), which comes standard with the Santa Fe SEL trim, disables rear doors from opening when another vehicle approaches from behind. Children are…unpredictable. SEA ensures your precious cargo stays protected from danger, even when you’re not looking.

Ultrasonic Rear Occupant Alert also keeps your kids safe. Upon exiting your Santa Fe, ROA sends a visual warning to the instrument cluster, reminding you to check the back row. The ultrasonic sensors will automatically detect movement in the back when the vehicle’s off, as well. If movement is sensed, the system honks Santa Fe’s horn, flash its lights, and send an alert straight to your smartphone via Blue Link®.

From Santa Fe’s hatch to its front row, you get 71.3 cubic feet of room – more than enough space for camping gear, bikes, and what-have-yous.

Dual rear USB ports (2.1-amp) guarantee everyone can keep their devices charged up. In the front, you also get a wireless charging pad that’s conveniently located under the central stack.
Push-button 60/40 split fold-down rear seats make it simple to get in and out. Push a button, fold the seats down, and you’re golden.
