Hyundai Still America’s Best Auto WarrantyBuying a new car is no joke. Even if you get it fresh off the factory floor, there’s always a chance that something can go wrong a few years down the road.

Lots of manufacturers offer the bare minimum new car coverage—the industry standard is a scant 3-year term. Not Hyundai, though. The award-winning automaker stands behind its product longer than anyone else in the game. Let’s check out exactly what makes it the best car warranty in the business.

Hyundai New Car Warranty

Here’s everything covered by America’s Best Warranty. All warranties are good for the entire duration of the term, and are transferrable to any subsequent owners, with the exception of the powertrain warranty.

New Vehicle Limited Warranty – 5 Years/60,000 Miles

Under the first-rate new Hyundai warranty, your basic new car program covers a wide range of factory components. It can also cover accessories originally installed by Hyundai or a Hyundai-certified dealer.

There are a few components that have their own specific time and mileage parameters:

  • Adjustments – 1 year/12,000 miles
  • Wear items – 1 year/12,000 miles
  • A/C refrigerant – 1 year/unlimited miles
  • Exterior paint – 3 years/36,000 miles
  • Battery – 3 years/36,000 miles?

Powertrain Limited Warranty – 10 Years/100,000 Miles

One of the most impressive aspects of the best new car warranty, this one covers all components of the engine, transmission, and driveline outlined in the warranty handbook.

This is the longest new car warranty available on the market. The laundry list of components that are covered includes the cylinder block and all internal workings, oil pump, water pump, fly wheel, engine mounts, turbocharger, axle shafts, CV joints, torque converter, transfer case, and more.

Powertrain coverage is the only warranty that doesn’t fully transfer to subsequent owners—after the first owner, powertrain coverage will revert to the 5-year/60,000-mile term outlined in the New Vehicle Limited warranty.

Anti-Perforation Warranty – 7 Years/Unlimited Miles

This warranty covers rust and corrosion to the original factory body sheet metal.

Replacement Parts and Accessories Warranty – 12 Months/12,000 Miles

This warranty covers any Hyundai Genuine replacement part of an accessory that was installed after the vehicle’s first use. Genuine parts and accessories installed before this time period are covered under the New Vehicle Limited warranty.

Federal Emission Defect and Performance Warranty – 8 Years/80,000 Miles

Coverage of any parts that relate to complying with government emission guidelines, including the catalytic converter and engine control module.

California Emissions Control Systems Warranty – 7 Years/70,000 Miles

Coverage of any parts that relate to complying with California specifications, which currently applies to new vehicles registered in these states:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington
Hybrid/EV Battery Warranty – 10 Years/100,000 Miles

The electric car warranty is another reason why Hyundai cars come with the best factory coverage. This bit is responsible for all hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric vehicle systems, and it’s active for the entire term, regardless of how many subsequent owners the vehicle’s had.

All electric car batteries slowly degrade over time. However, Hyundai guarantees that their battery components won’t degrade to less than 70% of their original capacity over the course of the warranty.

Other Hyundai Services

As if being the car company with the best warranty wasn’t enough, Hyundai also offers other ways for new car buyers to save time and money.

24-Hour Roadside Assistance

Roadside services include jumping a dead battery, changing a flat tire, gas delivery, and lock-out service. If you find yourself stranded due to an unforeseen vehicle defect, Hyundai will have your car towed to the nearest certified Hyundai dealership. The program also covers potential trip interruption benefits, which include reimbursement for food, lodging, and transportation if your vehicle is waylaid in the shop overnight.

Hyundai Complimentary Maintenance

This 3-year/36,000-mile scheduled maintenance program is totally free with the purchase of a new vehicle.

This service covers oil changes, oil filter replacement, tire rotations, and multi-point inspections at the intervals outlined in the vehicle owner’s manual. Other services can also be covered for severe maintenance intervals if indicated in MyHyundai by the owner.
