If you’re looking for a new car these days, you may be considering various brands’ safety features. At Braman Hyundai, we pride ourselves on selling some of the safest cars on the market, all of which feature SmartSense. Hyundai SmartSense provides tons of standard and available safety features, and it’s considered one of the leading driver assistance technologies today.

Let’s go over the different SmartSense safety features to better understand them.

Hyundai SmartSense at a Glance

Driving Safety

The SmartSense driving safety features prevent you from making avoidable mistakes while driving. They include:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped): Detects vehicles and pedestrians in front of your car. If you don’t brake in time, it automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA): Alerts you to vehicles in your blind spot when your turn signal is on and may apply braking to prevent a collision.
  • Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM): Displays a live video feed of your blind spot from side-view cameras when you use your turn signal.
  • Lane Following Assist (LFA): Uses a front-view camera to detect lane markers and helps steer to keep your vehicle centered in the lane.

Parking Safety

Parking can be difficult, particularly in a crowded parking lot or a busy city street. These parking safety features help you prevent collisions in those situations:

  • Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA-R): Activates while reversing in a parking spot, providing audio warnings when sensors detect a potential collision. It can also apply the brakes if necessary.
  • Surround View Monitor (SVM): Displays side and rear camera views on your touchscreen to enhance parking and maneuvering visibility.
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA): Allows your Hyundai to park itself using the Smart Key, even when you're outside the vehicle. A Premium version is available on select models.
  • Parking Distance Warning – Front and Reverse: Uses ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers to detect nearby objects that may be hard to see.

Are All of These Features Available on Every Hyundai?

No, but most are. The various safety features appear on each Hyundai in various combinations. You can visit the Hyundai website to filter the safety features to find which ones and their combinations are on which Hyundai vehicles, or you can simply contact your local Hyundai dealership near Aventura and our expert staff will be able to tell you which vehicles and trims have which features specifically.
